Alliance Entertainment Holding Corporation has announced a new exclusive home entertainment license agreement with Amazon MGM Studios Distribution, expanding its role in North American packaged-media and content distribution. The agreement covers physical media distribution in the United States and Canada and was announced on January 12, 2026 (Alliance Entertainment).
The alliance entertainment distribution deal makes Alliance the exclusive distributor for select Amazon MGM Studios physical media titles across major retail and direct-to-consumer channels. According to Alliance’s subsequent SEC disclosure, the agreement became effective January 1, 2026, has an initial five-year term, and covers DVD, Blu-ray and UHD formats. Alliance will manufacture, distribute and fulfill the physical products, while Amazon MGM Studios retains responsibility for digital media distribution.
Deal scope includes new releases and catalog titles
The distribution agreement spans both upcoming releases and catalog film and television properties. Alliance said the arrangement will bring new releases including Fallout Season 2 and Mercy to market, while also supporting revitalized catalog programs and expanded UHD and Blu-ray assortments. The company identified major franchises and titles such as James Bond, Rocky, The Silence of the Lambs and Legally Blonde as part of the broader physical media opportunity.
Alliance executives framed the partnership as a milestone for the company’s home entertainment business, emphasizing its retail reach, replenishment capabilities and focus on collector-oriented releases. Amazon MGM Studios Distribution also pointed to Alliance’s experience in physical media distribution, retail execution and premium formats as reasons for the partnership.
Why it matters for physical media retail
The deal arrives as studios continue to rethink packaged-media operations in a market increasingly shaped by streaming, direct-to-consumer sales and premium collector demand. For retailers, the agreement could help centralize access to Amazon MGM Studios titles through a distributor already positioned across wholesale, e-commerce and brick-and-mortar channels.
Alliance says it supplies more than 340,000 unique SKUs across music, video, video games, licensed merchandise and collectibles to more than 35,000 retail and e-commerce storefronts. The company’s investor materials also describe Alliance Home Entertainment as an exclusive licensed distributor for Paramount Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios, overseeing Blu-ray, 4K and DVD releases in North America.
Collector formats remain a strategic focus
A notable part of the announcement is the emphasis on expanded 4K, UHD, Blu-ray and collector editions. While the agreement does not guarantee specific release dates for every catalog title, it signals Amazon MGM Studios’ intent to keep physical editions available for fans, collectors and retailers that continue to support packaged media.
For Alliance, the Amazon MGM Studios arrangement strengthens a broader strategy built around exclusive licensing, fulfillment scale and premium physical-media programs. The company has described exclusive distribution and licensing agreements as a growth driver, and its latest investor presentation says those agreements account for annual sales exceeding $350 million.
Financial terms of the Amazon MGM Studios distribution agreement were not disclosed. The companies have not announced a full release calendar tied to the deal, but the partnership positions Alliance as a key North American outlet for Amazon MGM Studios’ physical media pipeline over the initial five-year term.
