Did you know Americans produce over 1,000 pounds of garbage every year? If you’ve been considering cleaner living to help reduce the amount of waste you produce, there are a few do’s and don’ts you should know first.

This guide will discuss everything you should know. Keep reading to learn more.

Choose Local Food

If you want to transition to clean living, one change your can make is changing how you consume food. Local and organic produce travels a shorter distance to get to your table. This means it produces less CO2 emissions on its way to your home.

Locally grown food also requires fewer pesticides and preservatives. This makes it a healthier option.

You should also consider more plant-based options in your diet. Plant-based foods leave less of an environmental impact as well.

Don’t Try to Make Big Changes All at Once

If you want to learn how to live cleaner, you should start with small changes. Trying to make a lot of changes at once can make your transition stressful.

The path to a more sustainable life becomes easier by making small, gradual changes. Meatless Mondays are a great option if you’re not ready to switch to a plant-based diet.

You can also switch to LED lightbulbs to conserve energy in your home. Avoid throwing out unwanted items and donate or repurpose them instead.

Don’t Use Plastic

Green living means reducing your carbon footprint. This means you should try to avoid plastic at all costs. Plastic creates a lot of waste and releases toxins into the atmosphere.

You can avoid using plastic by taking reusable bags to the grocery store. You can buy a refillable water bottle and filter for your tap, so you don’t have to buy plastic water bottles.

You can use glass containers instead of plastic ones to store your leftover food.

Use Green Cleaning Products

If you want to practice more sustainable living, you should consider switching your cleaning products. Many store-bought cleaning products are filled with chemicals that are harmful to the environment and your health.

Choose the green cleaning products available in stores to avoid releasing toxic chemicals into your home and the environment. You can also make cleaning products at home with simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils.

Switch to a Clean Energy Source

If you’re wondering how to be more sustainable, switching to a cleaner energy source is your answer. Most of the energy sources used to power homes release a lot of toxins into the atmosphere.

Solar energy is one clean energy option you might like. It helps reduce your carbon footprint and can conserve energy in your home. Check out your local Blue Raven Solar to learn more.

How to Achieve Cleaner Living

If you want to achieve cleaner living, there are a few things you should do and a few you shouldn’t. Make sure you’re avoiding plastic and consider switching to a cleaner energy source.
