Pricing and packaging remained central to the quarter
Charter attributed the year-over-year improvement in video losses to new and simplified pricing and packaging introduced in September 2024. The company said Spectrum TV Select customers receive streaming apps bundled into their plans, part of a broader strategy to make traditional video packages feel more flexible as cord-cutting continues.
On broadband, Charter said Q1 internet losses included about 9,000 disconnects tied to California wildfires in January. Company commentary from the earnings call also pointed to stable internet churn year over year despite the lack of Affordable Connectivity Program support, an important note for investors tracking whether the end of ACP would continue pressuring net additions.
Spectrum Internet Customers Loss: Charter and Spectrum background
Charter Communications is a U.S. broadband connectivity and cable operator that provides residential and business services through the Spectrum brand. Its offerings include internet, WiFi, mobile, video and voice services, with Spectrum positioned around bundled connectivity and entertainment.
That bundle strategy is central to Charter’s response to subscriber pressure. As traditional video keeps shrinking and broadband faces stronger competition, Spectrum Mobile remains the clearest growth engine in the company’s quarterly results.
What to watch next quarter
The next report will be judged on whether Charter can keep internet losses near or below Q1 levels, reduce video declines again, and sustain mobile line growth without masking weakness elsewhere. Investors and customers will also watch for management comments on pricing, bundled offers, ACP-related churn, network upgrades and any charter service issues that could affect retention.
