Readying for a long motorcycle trip with friends or by yourself? It’s exciting to travel on the open road and see all the wonderful sights and sounds, but you will do well when you have gear that will keep you safe. Here are six recommended must-haves for that.

A Sturdy and Certified Helmet

Safety is utmost priority on long road trips. Not only is wearing a helmet important, it’s a law in some countries and states. Make sure it has a mark of certification by your country’s regulations and comfortable enough to wear for hours.

Your Smartphone

Your phone can act as a communication device, a GPS, and a camera to take amazing shots, among others. It can store important phone numbers, such as your emergency contacts, loved ones, and a motorcycle accident lawyer, just in case.

Rain Gear and Change of Clothes

The weather can be very unpredictable most of the time, but you can prepare for it by layering and bringing a change of clothes. As a rule of thumb, you should also have rain gear, like a rain suit you can put over your clothes. In addition, boot covers and waterproof gloves can keep your feet and hands dry.

Sunglasses

Reduce glare and having to squint with a pair of quality sunglasses.

Portable Charger

A portable charger or power bank will prove to be very useful for charging your smartphone and devices. Pack the appropriate cables and you won’t have to worry about running out of juice. This will come in handy when you’re in a pinch and a remote area.

Repair Kit

Bring a basic tool kit that has everything you need to conduct minor repairs. Have a spare key, a small microfiber cloth, some spare bulbs and fuses, and duct tape. Teach yourself how to use it to get out of a bind easily.
