Our mode of transportation is continuously changing – and now, more than ever, we are thinking carefully about how safe it is. Traveling today is much safer than it was thirty years ago. Since the 1970s, all forms of transport have experienced dramatic declines in fatalities, and highway fatalities alone have decreased by nearly half. Travel risks, however, are far from being eliminated. Certainly, flying is much faster these days, especially when you are in a society where each minute is valued highly. However, many people choose to travel by bus because it is the traditional way of doing so. Buses will be in service for an extended period, and we’ll look at some of those reasons!

1.) Licensed and well-trained bus drivers

When you consider the immense risks associated with driving, it’s shocking to think how often people get behind the wheel. When we get behind the wheel with someone whose driving makes us nervous, we are all feeling helpless and anxious. Bus drivers possess excellent attention and experience. During every hour spent on the road, drivers are working for a living, and they are responsible for keeping their passengers comfortable and safe. The bus driver faces many differences from that of a car driver. Among them is the necessity to scan the bus’ surroundings continuously. In consequence, bus drivers are required to constantly check and recheck their mirrors for bus safety, leading to a highly tuned sense of surroundings. In addition, buses are normally longer and wider than most cars, which requires drivers to drive extra cautiously.

2.) Buses are designed to withstand accidents

What makes buses a safe mode of transportation? It is that they are designed carefully and thoughtfully. Bus safety features on a bus are part of its design, unlike those on a car, where they primarily function when the vehicle crumples and deploys its airbags during an accident. Supports are installed on the sides of buses so they can withstand collisions from the side and rear. A collision would not affect the walls of the bus, so passengers can rest assured they would stay rigid.

In addition to being the largest vehicles on the road, buses boast several advantages as well. The fact that they are extremely visible contributes to their superior bus safety – not to mention their size and weight, which make them naturally superior in almost any collision. A bus’s windows are usually glazed to prevent the formation of dangerous edges and shards in case of a break. A few windows can also be used as emergency exits. There are many ways to get out, just as there are several ways to exit a plane. If there is an emergency, this is extremely useful. In the event of an accident, you will not be injured by the broken glass if you are seated by a window on a bus.

3.) In case of a medical emergency, a bus can get dropped off at a nearby hospital

As you sit six miles above the ground on a plane, imagine that you are cruising through the atmosphere. A sick person cannot go to the hospital until an emergency landing can be requested, the plane can safely descend, and an ambulance can be ready to transport them to the hospital. Trains and planes cannot compete with buses in delivering passengers to the hospital directly – if a medical emergency occurs, the driver can simply reroute the bus and provide direct transportation to the hospital.

Buses are the best way to minimize risk while also eliminating the hassle of moving a large group from one place to another. You dneed not deal with lines or security, arrive two hours early, miss a flight or train due to a layover, or arrive two hours early. Professionalism, courtesy, knowledge, and readiness are all traits of your driver.
