Netflix set an Oct. 3, 2025 premiere date for Old Dog, New Tricks, a Spanish comedy series starring Luis Zahera and produced by Alea Media. The announcement placed the Netflix comedy on the streamer’s fall slate, with first-look images released ahead of the launch and the official trailer following in early September 2025 (Old Dogs & New Tricks).

The premise positions Antón as an old-school professional dropped into a very modern pet-care economy. Instead of farm calls and cattle, he faces grooming appointments, gourmet treats, anxious pet parents and a workplace culture that clashes with his blunt rural instincts.

Luis Zahera leads the cast as Antón, with Lucía Caraballo starring as Uxía. The ensemble also includes Carmen Ruiz and Antonio Durán “Morris,” while additional cast members listed by Netflix include Sergio Abelaira, Darío Loureiro, Adrián Viador, Raquel Nogueira, Fer Fraga and Nuno Gallego.
The series comes from Alea Media, with Aitor Gabilondo and Jota Aceytuno serving as executive producers. Old Dogs & New Tricks: Galicia plays a central role
Netflix said the production was filmed entirely in Galicia, with the fictional rural town of Topomorto recreated using locations in A Coruña municipalities including Dioño, A Calle, Pontemaceira, Parroquia, Teo and Vedra, as well as Santiago de Compostela. That setting gives the netflix comedy a local identity while supporting the story’s contrast between rural veterinary work and urbanized pet commerce.
Availability and continuing plans
Netflix’s official listing identifies the first season as a 2025 TV-MA comedy with nine episodes, starring Zahera, Caraballo and Carmen Ruíz, and names Víctor García León as creator.
The Oct. 3 debut has also become a springboard for more of the franchise. In April 2026, Netflix said production had begun on seasons 2 and 3 and announced Álvaro Mel’s addition to the cast for a new season, signaling continued investment in the world of Antón, Uxía and Kawanda.
