The last few years have been very difficult due to the global pandemic and many people have completely changed their lives. There have been many layoffs, workers who have abandoned companies to open their own business, an increase in remote work offers. This period brought to light problems that had existed for some time but that workers were unable to address, such as job dissatisfaction. The heads of the companies had to make changes, increasing benefits and giving the possibility to work remotely. The quality of life of employees can be improved in many ways according to the type of company, for example by installing a filter fan, which can be installed on various types of panels. When there is no safety in the workplace, there is no optimal temperature to work well and the needs of employees are underestimated, it is normal for them to flee and go looking for better opportunities.

Business improvements to make employees happier

When an employee leaves the company to change the type of job, to have professional growth in other areas, because they move to a new city, then the problem is not with the company but with the person who has new perspectives. However, it happens that employees are forced to leave because they either do not grow, are not valued, work in precarious conditions, or there are no promotions nor benefits. In this case it is normal to lose motivation and want to look for another job, somewhere else. So how do you improve the work environment and make employees happier?

Flexible hours and smart working

Offering flexible hours means having confidence in your employees, because it’s not about how many hours they work but the results they bring in. In the world we live in it no longer makes sense to set rigid working hours, to check that employees are always at their desks, because this becomes a limit. Every employee should organize their day as they see fit, working at times when they feel most productive. This also concerns remote working: giving people the opportunity to work at home, by the sea, in the mountains or in another city.

Professional tools

To work well and without stress, you need to use professional tools, capable of accelerating the work process. In this way there is no waste of time and frustration that occurs instead with obsolete tools or with their absence altogether. Tools are not only those related to the actual work, but also those that are used to keep the environment safe, with adequate cooling systems if you work in a large industrial plant.

Awards and acknowledgments

Recognizing the value of employees when they do a good job is very important, it increases motivation and productivity. Gratifying the team with prizes at the end of a project or with a company dinner can be a good way to increase the bond between colleagues and to make everyone happier and more satisfied. If a person has done a good job it is important to let them know!

Career paths

People usually enter the company with an internship contract and gradually grow up to a standard level. When an employee feels stuck and no longer sees growth, they get discouraged and think about looking for another job. This does not have to happen, so it is good to establish a career path appropriate to the skills. Work must be monitored and progress paths must be outlined in a clear and transparent manner.

Sustainable solutions

In recent times, given the period we are experiencing due to the climate crisis, many companies are investing in sustainable solutions. Offering employees alternatives can be good, for example providing mobility tools, giving them the opportunity to have healthy snacks and stop buying water in plastic bottles. Even the option of working remotely can be considered a sustainable choice, because vehicles or cars, which are very polluting for the environment, would be used less.

Welfare and insurance programs

In addition to the general solutions that must be adopted for the entire company, customized solutions can also be created that support the worker at 360 degrees in terms of gratifications and increased purchasing power. Welfare and insurance programs are an example of what can be done for an employee who has shown particular commitment and has achieved many important results.

Moments of sociability

In the workplace it is important to take collective breaks with colleagues, but also dinners or parties to strengthen the spirit of the group. Social moments allow you to recharge your batteries, get to know your coworkers better and share a drink with friends. You don’t necessarily have to create friendships or get along with everyone, but try to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and do team building.
